Thessaloniki is accessible by road, rail and air.
- Travel by car/bus
From Athens through the National Road (515 km). The trip lasts about 5-6 h. Information on the national busses timetable can be found in the web-site of KTEL Attikis. From the national bus terminal (T.S. KTEL) you can reach the city centre (5 km) either by taxi or by urban bus (routes 08, 12, 31 and 78).
- Travel by air
The Thessaloniki airport (SKG) is distanced 14km from the city centre and is accessible by bus and taxi. A range of flights are offered from and to national and international destinations.
To access/leave the airport by urban bus you take the 78, 78A and 78N routes, which leave the airport every half hour in working days and reach the bus terminal (T.S. KTEL) through the city centre in about 45 minutes. Taxis are always available in front of the airport.
- Travel by rail
Rail connections are available from the main station to Athens and other major cities of Northern Greece. Timetables and more information can be found on the web-site of the National Railway Organization.
Within Thessaloniki:
- Thessaloniki has a convenient bus network.
- The Porto Palace Hotel is located at 26th Octovriou Ave, next to the New Port and near the city centre.To reach/leave the hotel you may take bus route 31 (bus stop FIX), which connects the national bus terminal (T.S. KTEL) to the city centre.
From the national bus terminal you can also take routes 08 and 12 to the city centre or 78 to the airport via the city centre.
